Hamstring study: ART and Mulligan Technique

A study of 40 healthy subjects who had either a single session of ART or the Mulligan Bent Leg Raise technique (video) on their hamstring. A previous study showed the Mulligan BLR increased hamstring flexibility one day after the intervention.

Results: ART showed significant improvement in popliteal angle
and sit and reach flexibility test  as compared to the Mulligan technique.

What this means to patients is if your hamstring feels tight and you want it fixed quickly, come get some ART. and an exercise program to do at home.  There are a few different reasons a hamstring feels tight, but simple tests can help quickly determine what is the cause and best solution.  If you train with a tight hamstring, you may compensate for it and this can lead to other problems starting.
