Duncan Edwards -The CHEK Approach

Duncan Edwards is a CHEK Practitioner, personal trainer, lifestyle coach and co-owner of BodyGuards Gym in Jesmond, Newcastle.

If you are looking for a trainer to just count your reps, Duncan is not your man. I have asked him to share the philosophy behind the CHEK Method   Here it is:

The CHEK Method is a holistic approach to treatment, by treating the body as a whole system and finding the root cause of a problem. It includes the teaching of corrective and high-performance exercise kinesiology.

Three tenets of the CHEK Method:
1. LOVE-

It is very important that your dream is YOUR dream and not somebody else’s. If it’s somebody else’s dream people tend not to stick to their plan long enough to achieve the results that that person wants for them. A certain amount of introspection is required.

Dig deep within yourself and ask:

What do I really want from life?

What makes me truly happy?

What excites me enough to want to make changes and create a set of rules or ‘core values’ to live by?

In order to make your dream achievable or attainable, more measurable and realistic short term goals and core values can be very useful.

 2. FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES OF HEALTH

YIN / YANG

Rest / Digest Fight or Flight

Anabolic / Catabolic

Parasympathetic / Sympathetic

Repair / Breakdown

Spirituality / Science

By improving all of the foundational principles you can improve your health, remove the niggling aches and pains, avoid illness, expensive visits to the doctor and consequential prescription of medical drugs. You will have limitless energy, a robust immune system, strong muscles, bones and fully functioning organs. You’ll develop a positive outlook and a lust for life, be emotionally stable and have a sharp mind. By building your health on these solid foundations you’ll look good, feel good and be able to live your dream….
